Mobility

Things have been understandably hectic around here (mostly in a good way) and my computer decided to take a vacation, but it is back, and I am going to try once again to devote a little more time to updating the blog.

The kids couldn't be more different in so many ways, but today they both worked toward a common goal: mobility. While neither of my children are independently mobile at present, they both spent a little time today working on their motor skills in their own ways...

Man. I'm so jealous over here I could spit. I would LOVE to demo a power chair. LOVE it. I think Charlie would be off like a shot. Well, Fletch looks awesome in the chair--do you think you're gonna get one???

Erin WOW! He looks GREAT in it. How amazing! What kind of power chair is that?
Audrey is so cute!! Is Fletcher enjoying hanging out with her?

Love seeing Fletcher in a chair moving himself around! And I kept waiting for Audrey to throw herself right off her rocking chair. She's a strong little monkey!

He's in a Permobil, right? A demo can be arranged at a showroom floor (like Caleigh did).

Loved seeing glimpses of both your children!

I'm all for more blog posts of the Smykays! Barbara

Hi Erin,
I saw your comment on Bird On The Street's post about Fruit-Eze and wanted to talk to you. :)

My son is 4 and has Athetoid/Spastic Quad CP w/ Dystonia. He's 100% g-tube fed. He, too, suffers from bowel issues and of course the docs prescribed Miralax. Everytime we tried it he'd get such a tummy ache! It was awful.

We bought the Fruit-Eze in March of 2009. I have a Vita-Mix blender....and I put about 1/2 to 3/4 cups of water, a big tablespoon of Fruit-Eze, and about 10 prunes (from the Health food store) and I blend it all for about 5 minutes....gradually increasing the spead to make it really thin.

This has worked for us!! Just wanted to share because if you're like me, you're always searching for more info! :)

I"m going to go get to know your son now...he's a cutie!

We are off to Seattle tomorrow to get a GJ feeding tube placed. If we could just get Eli's reflux issues fixed things would be fabulous around here! ugh.

I'm going to take Katy's advice and try the slipper elm, though!!!

I love it. Where did you get the mobility device for Fletcher? I want one for Tyse. Tell me all about it. I was just telling Todd that I need to get him something like that.

I was so excited about the mobility device that I forgot to comment on Audrey. She is so cute. Last time we saw a pic of her she was a baby and now she looks so much bigger. Just wait until she starts crawling if she hasn't already. Your world is going to flip upside down. Kayleena is learning to walk and boy do I love it to death but at the same time it's all happening so fast. I'm losing my mind. In two months, she'll be one! AHHHHHH! I miss her being a baby. I'm sure you feel that same way too. Are you guys still in ABR? We need to catch up.
